About Us

The Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics began accepting students in 1999, at a pivotal moment when interdisciplinary research was gaining prominence. Recognizing the importance of fostering student development, the ITU Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Club was established in the 2001-2002 academic year. The club's primary mission is to unite students passionate about molecular biology and genetics, promoting scientific knowledge sharing and creating a collaborative research and innovation environment.

Beyond enhancing scientific knowledge, the club focuses on connecting its members with the broader scientific community, both nationally and internationally. To support this goal, the club organizes academic events, seminars, and congresses, offering platforms for academic and personal growth. One of the club's signature events, the annual International ITU Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress, contributes to the academic advancement of its members while promoting Turkey’s representation in global scientific discussions.

These events are not solely scientific in nature—they also foster cultural exchange by bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds, encouraging mutual learning and broadening students' perspectives. Through this holistic approach, the ITU Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Club nurtures its members' scientific and intercultural development, preparing them for a globalized scientific community.
